Say bye bye to the nail salon and hello Huda Beauty nails

Saturday, 17 January 2015

Ever since Huda Beauty (aka the best beauty blogger in the world!) has launched her nails I've been dying to get my hands on them. I was finally able to try out the nails recently and they definitely did not disappoint.

-Designs:

  • Top : Rockstar Rich
  • Bottom : Posh in Paris
  • Honestly, the designs of the HB nails are like no other. They are unique, feminine, edgy and very modern. Each nail has a different design and that's what drew me towards it the most. This gives me results like I just got my nails done at the salon but also way better as I could work on it at my own pace and it's not very time consuming, it takes me 5 minutes to do both my hands. Also each nail is numbered so you don't have to spend time looking for the matching nail for the other hand.

- Application:
  • This comes with a glue and nail stickers. The glue is very strong but it's also so so so easy to remove, Huda herself did a tutorial on how to apply and remove the nails here.  I applied the glue and was able to remove the nails by the end of the day. As for the stickers, this is my favourite way to apply the nails as I can reuse the nails as many times as I want and can protect my nails as obviously using nail glue too much will damage your nails.
-How long the nails last:
  • The nails last for 2 weeks if you apply them with the glue, also Huda has mentioned that you can reuse the nails up to 6 times. With stickers I find that the nails stay on for 2 days, which is perfect as I usually don't like to keep the nails on for too long.
- Cost:
  • Each set costs $17
-Where to purchase:
  • This is available in Sephora in the middle east and you can purchase from http://www.shophudabeauty.com/ and they also ship worldwide. My order arrived in 5 days, which is amazing considering the fact that it's shipped from Dubai to Sydney.

Perfect brows thanks to Anastasia Beverly Hills

Thursday, 15 January 2015

I've been lusting over the Anastasia Beverly Hills dip brow pomade for ages, but it was very hard to find here in Australia, also the $ online put me off but I found it for a very affordable price and I thought I'd share it with you all. I've never really considered filling my brows as I have naturally thick eyebrows, I used to get them threaded but now I do them myself.

- Shade I own : Chocolate

  • Okay so at the beginning I was confused whether I should get this or dark brown. Another beauty blogger suggested chocolate as she said it was deeper than dark brown and works well for almost everyone. When I looked up the shade chocolate, it appeared very warm toned and looked like it had a red undertone in some people's brows. But that's not the case at all, I actually found that this has a mix between a warm and a cool undertone. My eyebrows look grey(in photos) and this is literally the perfect shade, I thought the chocolate wouldn't work but surprisingly it did, I recommend this to all NC40+ girls who have dark brown - almost black hair.
- Application :
  • I use an angled brush to apply this with a very very LIGHT hand. I just dip the brush once into the dip brow as it's very pigmented. I only fill in the sparse areas and that's it. After that I blend it with a spoolie brush. Then I apply concealer below and above my eyebrow and my eyebrows look like I just got them threaded! Honestly this product is AMAZING.
- Pigmentation :
  • The dip brow is so pigmented,  I am so amazed by how pigmented it is, you just need to dip your brush once and then fill in your brows. I've read online that the dip brow dries overtime, when this happens use a bit of baby oil and it will go back to normal.
- Consistency:
  • This has a mousse-y kind of consistency. It's very creamy and it goes on creamy but when it sets and you blend it, it almost feels like a powder, which is amazing. I thought this would be sticky on the brows but it doesn't even feel like I have anything on.
- Lasting power :
  • Okay so this stuff doesn't move at all! I usually touch my eyebrows like 20 times a day and the product doesn't move one bit and at the end of the day it looked like I had just filled them in.
- Price :
  • Okay so i found this on net-a-porter for A$15!! Which is amazing as in most online stores which I looked at it's A$39.  The shipping is $10 and it arrived within 2 days. Also this apparently lasts for 2 years, so you're getting so much for it's value. I'm in love with this product so much.

Concealer Talk : Nars or MAC?

Monday, 12 January 2015
Both are concealers raved about excessively in the beauty world. The Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer and the MAC Prolong Wear Concealer are mostly used for highlighting under the eyes.

- Shades I own:
  • MAC:  NC45 (A$32)
  • Nars: Caramel (A$35)
-Swatches:

  • Top Picture : With flash
  • Bottom Picture: Without flash

-Colour range:
  • MAC : Okay so with this one it was extremely different to get a shade which is perfect for me . I didn't want something to brighten up way too much and the lady at MAC gave me NC45. Now one thing about this concealer is that it OXIDISES like crazy! NC45 looks normal in the bottle but when blended oh boy! It looked disgusting like it literally turned orange. I find that with MAC base products they are usually more orange than yellow. I used to use this on blemishes UNDER my foundation as it conceals the spots very well, but I barely do this because my skin is getting better.
  • Nars: Amazing colour range. They cater for many undertones from pink to dark gold-brown undertones. The shade Caramel is perfect for me as it is only one shade lighter. It doesn't oxidise at all.
-Coverage:
  • MAC: This is pretty high coverage, it's light however it sets very very quickly. So you have to work with it fast as when it sets you won't be able to blend it properly.
  • Nars: Excellent coverage for under eyes. I have horrible dark circles and this is the only concealer I've ever used that actually hides about 85% of the darkness. You can use a corrector if you can still see your dark circles but I do not do this step as I don't aim for a fully brightened effect. It's absolutely amazing and I would recommend it to anyone who has dark circles. It also feels smooth and not too heavy.
-Creasing: (I have fine lines under my eyes that just don't seem to go away so i'm not too fussy if my concealer creases)

  • MAC: Apparently this has some anti-creasing technology that stops it from creasing under your eyes. Now because i have fine lines every concealer creases so I'm used to it. This does crease on me but not as much as Nars.
  • Nars: This creases a bit more than the MAC concealer but that's fine. Just make sure you set it with any powder you want (Preferably a yellow based powder or a translucent powder).
-Applicator:

  • MAC: Okay so the pump in this concealer is absolutely horrible! It's very hard to get out the amount you need and when you pump way too much concealer comes out and you end wasting so much. It takes a bit of time to figure out a way to make just a little bit of concealer come out.
  • Nars: I love that this has a sponge applicator so you won't end up using too much.
-Application:
  • MAC: As I said earlier, this sets very quickly so I find that this best works by blending it with a brush or a beauty blender. It's difficult to blend this with your fingers.
  • Nars: Blends beautifully with fingers. I find that the results of this are more amazing when it's blended using fingers rather than using brushes/sponges.
-Would I repurchase:
  • MAC: Honestly, No. The oxidisation of this concealer totally put me off and I probably wouldn't even purchase it again. Also my shade is difficult to obtain as most of the shades are too orange.
  • Nars: 100% YES! Great for your dark circles and provides a smooth flawless finish. It's worth every penny.

How I tame the beast AKA my Curly hair

Saturday, 10 January 2015

Growing up I absolutely hated my hair with passion, I always used to complain about it,wishing I had straight hair. Looking back now, It's not my hair that was an issue, it's just the fact that I just simply didn't know how to style it!

I always plaited my hair or put it in buns most of the time, i never used to leave it out. But when I got to year 11, I kinda got bored of all the straightening, plaits and buns so I decided to leave my hair naturally curly a few times. I fell in love with it! I wasn't comfortable with leaving it out completely because it would go frizzy as soon as I stepped out of the house. But over the past year, I finally figured out how to tame it! My hair type is 3B/3C.

Wash and Go process:

  • First I wash my hair with a SULPHATE-FREE shampoo/conditioner. This is important because If a shampoo has sulphate it will cause your hair to be frizzy, my favourite is the Tresemme Naturals line. I detangle my hair in the shower with the help of the conditioner as it's much easier to detangle when the hair is wet than when it's dry. I then rinse my hair with COLD water.
  • After I get out of the shower, I take a little bit more of the conditioner and spread it throughout my hair. This helps add moisture.
  • I then take my Loreal EverStyle curl defining gel  and put it all over my hair. This is the most amazing gel I've ever used, it doesn't leave any residue but it helps my hair stay tamed for days. I love it.
  • After that I use a little bit of coconut oil, don't use too much or your hair will end up looking greasy. I sometimes do this before applying the gel, it works just as well. You can purchase it from any grocery store and it's amazing as it adds shine to my dry hair. And that's really it. I like my wash and go process to be easy and quick.

How I wrap my hair at night:

  • In order to preserve my hair at night, I just tie it in a pineapple and go to sleep with it. If you dont know what a pineapple is here it is.

Second day hair:

  • For my second/third day etc. hair I just spray some water and then just style it whatever way I want, I sometimes use a little bit of oil but not all the time.

Chanel, Givenchy, Cartier and Valentino Inspired pieces

Wednesday, 7 January 2015
Fashion is always changing and we are always introduced to amazing items thanks to many brands including high end brands such as Chanel, Givenchy etc. However these things are obviously heavily priced, so I put together a few items which are inspired by popular items but their prices are affordable.

- Givenchy Antigona bag:

It's like this bag was made to take over the world with it's unique and sleek design. I'm so in love with it, I was browsing the iconic and came across this Kardashian Kollection Final Countdown Grip Handle Bowler  and I instantly fell in love.  This is probably the closest one similar to the Antigona and hello it's Kardashian Kollection *I'm a major Kardashians fan!*. This one is A$199.99.

-Valentino Rockstud:

Another amazing pair of heels that has blew me away completely, pointed heels are definitely my favourite. The simplicity of these heels makes them wearable with almost everything however they will definitly spice up your look. I found these Adore by Diavolina  at wanted shoes. It's crazy how similar this looks to the Valentino heels. Valentino is on the right and Diavolina is on the left. This retails for A$199.95.

-Chanel Espadrilles:

Don't these Chanel espadrilles look like the comfiest shoes in the entire world? well I'm sure they are. The two tone colour of the espadrilles is what really caught my eye, I love black and white, especially for shoes. I found these amazing Tory Burch Colorblock Flat Espadrilles  on shopbop for only A$172.59.

-Cartier Love Bracelet:

I fell in love with this the first time I've seen it. It's not like your traditional bracelets, It's sleek and wearable for any event, outings etc. The velvet caviar love bracelet  looks almost EXACTLY the same! And guess what? It's only $35.

Until next time

Benefit Porefessional or Garnier 5sec Blur?

Saturday, 3 January 2015
Hi lovelies:) Today I'm here with a much better alternative of the infamous Benefit Porefessional primer. This primer is always talked about in the beauty world, it's considered to be one of the beauty items that you should have in your collection. I am going to be comparing it with the Garnier perfect blur 5 sec smoothing base perfector and showing you the difference between the two which I have observed.

- Garnier perfect blur 5 sec smoothing base perfector:

This was the very first primer I ever used. It retails for $16.99 here in Australia. With this one, you can actually see all your fine lines and pores disappearing within seconds. I was amazed the first time I used it and it made my foundation look great. It's also a mattifying primer which is a bonus if you have oily skin. It makes my foundation stay on for a long time without my pores and fine lines appearing through the foundation. I ran out of this in about 2 months because I was using it every single day as it's results were truly amazing.

-Benefit Porefessional:

In my opinion this product is so overhyped. First of all, it retails for $53 which is super expensive. I did not feel the need that I needed to purchase it however I got a mini sample from a benefit counter and another sample from a benefit kit which I purchased. I had high hopes for this product, but it did not live up to it's expectations. It did not make much of a difference at all. I find that my T-zone still gets oily even after I apply this primer. My pores did become a little bit smaller after applying it but that was really it.

To me personally the garnier is a much better primer as you can't beat the price and it's quality is heavenly. Hope you guys enjoy this post:)
